Hamilton Finishes Strong In Las Vegas
With a strong 12th place run at The Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Team Smithfield Racing driver Bobby Hamilton stands just two points outside of the Nationwide Series Top Ten.
Hamilton drove his heart out on Saturday, milking the No. 25 Curly’s BBQ Ford Fusion for every ounce of power the car had. After qualifying in the 14th position, Hamilton knew he had a chance for a productive day of racing. Crew Chief Chris Wright and his crew of hard workers felt confident in the machine they placed in Hamilton’s hands.
From the drop of the green flag, Hamilton worked his way through a tricky 300 miles of racing. Some of the Sprint Cup drivers that had entered the race, walked home with damaged race cars, but Hamilton managed to keep control of his Ford the entire event.
With a top-ten in sight, Hamilton worked hard the last few laps, but fell to 12th at the drop of the checkered flag. The finish allowed him to move into 11th in the season long point’s race. Among drivers expected to run the full season, Hamilton stands in seventh position.
“The Curly’s BBQ Ford performed well today,” Hamilton said. “We really wanted the top-ten, but to work our way forward in the points makes us all happy. Now we head to Atlanta, my favorite track. The race will be a tough challenge, but all my guys will work hard this week and take a good car to Atlanta.”
Mark Martin claimed the win over Greg Biffle and Clint Bowyer. Saturday’s race in Atlanta will begin a stretch of three straight weeks of racing in the Southeast portion of the United States. EPSN2 will provide live coverage of the event, check your local listings for broadcast times in your area.
