Hamilton Finished 23rd In Texas Race
Exciting probably isn’t the word to describe Saturday’s NASCAR Nationwide Series race from Texas Motor Speedway. There were very few passes, only a couple of cautions and the race was dominated by the Cup drivers. With the Nationwide Series drivers not allowed on track for nearly 48 hours prior to the race, the all the advantages were in place for the Cup drivers to dominate the event, and they did.
After starting from the 17th position, Bobby Hamilton, Jr. driver of the Eckrich Meats Ford Fusion worked hard all day to maintain pace with the lead cars. The pace set by Kyle Busch and Kevin Harvick was tough for most to follow. Hamilton and the team did their best, working hard on the car’s chassis over the course of the 300 mile race. Unfortunately the order of the day was simply follow the leaders and hope for the best. Hamilton finished the event in 23rd place, maintaining the 12th position in the season long point’s race.
“This was a tough race for us, staying off the track for nearly 48 hours really hurt us, we were left to make an educated guess on the chassis setup,” Hamilton said. “The good thing about this weekend is we accomplished a lot of great things off the track for Eckrich and we really enjoyed meeting a bunch of their customers and employees. We will put this race behind us and move on to Phoenix, one of my favorite tracks.”
Hamilton will line up in the John Morrell Ford in Phoenix and aim for a repeat of his 2003 win over Kevin Harvick on Friday Night.
Kyle Busch captured the win on Saturday afternoon, holding off Jeff Burton for the win.
